MCELROY COMMONS — Public scrutiny of Boston College Dining Services (BCDS) is higher than ever after student Damie J’Ambra (MCAS ’25) found a giant black bug in their meal. After a photo of the bug was published and quickly became viral on Monday, many students were questioning what BCDS would do to rectify the situation. However, fate turned for the better for BCDS after one of its employees released a receipt which revealed that J’Ambra did, in fact, order their meal with a side of bug.

J’Ambra’s sales receipt shows that they purchased an order of chicken and two sides (a BC classic) and, additionally, a “comically large bug.” According to the cashier that logged the transaction, J’Ambra even specified that they wanted the bug to be “as gross as possible.”

In response to the receipt going public, J’Ambra said, “Typical of BC Dining to go as far as to forge a receipt to cover their ass. Let me explain in simple terms: I did not order the bug. Even if I did order the side of bug, which I didn’t, it would’ve had to have been a lot more disgusting than the one I was given. If you’re gonna serve someone a side of bug, it has to really be of unknown origin. It can’t be any regular old bug you find on the street. Not that it’s relevant, because like I said, I didn’t order the bug. But if I did, it would’ve needed to be a lot grosser than what I got.”

At press time, J’Ambra was seen registering for a spring semester course titled, “Bugs of Unknown Origin and Where To Find Them.”
