GERALD ROAD — Every friend group has a pick me guy. He’s not the coolest, but he’s also not the weirdest. He’s just nice enough to where you have to keep him around. Some guys like this have some sort of clue that they’re a pick me guy, but for Tom Latz (MCAS ’24), his friends say he simply can’t read the room.

The latest showing of Latz’s pick me tendencies came Saturday night when he showed up five minutes late to his upstairs neighbors’ Friendsgiving dinner and began asking every person at the function, “Where my thanks at?”

According to his friend Kent Standette (MCAS ’24), incidents like Saturday night happen all too often. “Last week it was a hug,” said Standette. “Begging and pleading to get a hug from everyone.”

After Latz finished requesting thanks from each person, he stood over the table with his fingers pointed towards each other, sporting a frown and puppy dog eyes as he asked his adult friends for “just a wittle nibble.”

The potluck style of the dinner necessitated that each guest contribute to the spread. According to multiple sources, Latz brought paper towels.

At press time, Latz’s friends were making fun of him in the group chat they made without him.
