Hafley Wants You To Give Morehead … A Chance

YAWKEY ATHLETICS CENTER — After the crushing blow this weekend against Syracuse where it seemed like the Eagles simply could not score, Coach Jeff Hafley pleaded to the press, student body, and fans alike to just give Morehead a chance.
Hafley said, “I must admit our guys have really been getting shafted lately. They’re spending way too much time on their knees out there. It seems like we are constantly edging the brim of success; we just need that final thrust. I think next week we’re gonna come out on top with a satisfying finish to the game.”
Hafley had some inspirational things to say about his latest pick for quarterback, freshmen Emmett Morehead.
“The guys need Morehead. He’s a natural leader and will definitely come in handy. I think he’ll really loosen them up and get the juices flowing. There’s natural chemistry there. He may be the secret ingredient to finally arouse our boys.”
Hafley continued, “We’re hoping to have a full crowd tonight. Nothing gets the team going like having people watch, especially when they film it. We want to see the students’ heads consistently bobbing up and down.”
Connor Lingus (LSOE ’25) spoke to The Classic about what some representation on the field means to the Class of 2025, “All the guys in my hall are talking about Morehead. He’s the man! When we were watching the Syracuse game in the Keyes South lounge, we started chanting ‘we want Morehead’ repeatedly and we meant it.”
The team is definitely excited to be back in Alumni after the dome seemed to give them all sorts of trouble last week. The line kept coming early and they were just allowing too many sacks through the gaping hole that the injury to offensive linemen Tyler Vrabel left.
When asked about the offense’s struggles last week, Quarterback Emmett Morehead said, “The protection broke down and we just got ourselves caught in a lot of sticky situations. We’re rolling with Plan B this week and I think we just need to have the mentality that when the going gets hard we gotta get harder.”
At presstime Morehead was seen asking to switch his number to 69 for his favorite positional player Dick Butkus.
