Junior Girl Abroad Takes Pill in Ibiza to Fulfill Cultural Diversity Core

ESPAÑA — Moments after learning Mike Posner was headlining Stokes Set 2026, Addie Rall (MCAS ‘27), received another email from Boston College. This one was even more exciting: BC had approved her early-September weekend trip to Ibiza as her Cultural Diversity core.
“I didn’t just take a pill in Ibiza,” Rall explained. “I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool. There’s a huge difference. One is recreational drug use. The other demonstrates engagement with a culturally significant primary text.”
In an effort to gain University approval for her experience, Rall proposed her trip as “IBZA2026: Pill Taking in the Mediterranean World.” The course objectives included understanding Spanish nightlife through direct participation, developing conversational proficiency by asking guys if they “know where the club is” (¿Sabes dónde está el club?) and examining the cultural legacy of Avicii.
The university originally rejected Rall’s proposal, noting that spending 36 hours in “Ibitha” and telling everyone she is “basically fluent,” did not constitute becoming a global citizen. Administrators reversed the decision Monday after CAB announced Posner, known for the hit “I took a pill in Ibiza” as the Stokes Set Headliner.
“Once Boston College officially recognized Posner as an artist worthy of appearing on campus, we had no choice but to recognize Rall’s abroad experience as a worthy, necessary act of scholarship,” said an administrator who wishes to remain anonymous.
Rall’s inspiring cultural immersion story has inspired fellow Eagles all the way back in Chestnut Hill. New England Classic reporters recently discovered Ines Spired (CSOM ‘27) in the Office of Student Services asking if “that one time she saw God in Florence after taking edibles at 4 AM” could fulfill the 6 theology credits she desperately needs to graduate this May.
