Total Plug: Dad Gives Sophomore Sip Of Beer During Game
ALUMNI FIELD — Underage sophomore Harry “Heavyweight” Holmes had his entire weekend made when his cool father agreed to share a sip of his beer with him at the game on Saturday.
After tailgating in the Robsham parking lot, where eyewitnesses claim they saw Heavyweight sneaking some drinks behind his parents’ back, the Holmes family made their way into the game. In the stadium, Heavyweight reportedly returned to the realm of sobriety and started getting cranky, especially after his parents wouldn’t let him leave with the boys at halftime. This is where his dad, Peter Holmes (CSOM ‘75), stepped in and made the save. Holmes told his son to “cheer up, champ” and passed his son his beer to take a sip.
Michelle Obultra (LSOE ‘21), who was sitting two rows behind, said that she’s never seen someone get so excited about a sip of beer.
“He took a huge gulp, then yelled out ‘DRINKING AT ALUMNI, HELL YEAH!’” Obultra said. “It clearly made his whole day.”
At press time, Peter Holmes was overheard answering his son’s complaint of “I’m hungover,” with “Hi Hungover, I’m Dad.”
