MALONEY 4TH FLOOR DOOR — The red bandana at Boston College remembers the legacy of Welles Crowther ’99 who bravely sacrificed his life to save 18 others in the 9/11 attacks. Most of those who tie a bandana to their backpack honor Welles’ heroic legacy. However, some students who do it can’t remember their last act of service for anybody other than themselves.

Reporters at the Classic caught up with one man, Poe Sir (CSOM ’28), who proudly sports the red bandana on his black North Face backpack.

Sir explained how he was deeply moved by the red bandana story.

“I was scrolling Twitter and House of Highlights asked, ‘Is BC’s Red Bandana jersey the best uniform in sports? The answer is obviously yes, but the jerseys were sold out so the regular old bandana was the next best thing’”

Sir scoured the bookstore on campus until he came across the holy grail. Stuffing the bandana in his pocket and walking out inconspicuously, Sir was later heard bragging about how he got the bandana “100% Off!”

New accessory affixed, Sir went about his day as usual. Absorbed entirely in his own existence, Sir spoke over his peers in Pulse class, refused to hold open doors on the Maloney-O’Neill Expressway, and weighed world-saving career options with Teach for America and Deloitte.

When asked about the legacy of Welles, Sir took out one airpod, scratched his head, and replied, “I’m pretty sure the water at BC comes from pipes now, not wells.” After an awkward silence, Sir asked, “Do you think if I wear a red bandana tracksuit on Saturday I’ll make it into the TikTok? Can you tag me @callmesir if I do?”

At press time, Sir was seen walking across campus at peak times taking up entire walkways and pushing and shoving his way to the front of the line at Circle, explaining how he’s “tight” with the bouncer.
