BOSTON COMMON — A Hamilton fan had a lightbulb moment this weekend after hearing Dropkick Murphy’s performance at the No Kings Protest on Saturday.

“I was like WAITTTTTT…I think I’ve seen something like this before,” said Skyler Teatre (MCAS ‘28). “They literally just copied Lin Manuel Miranda’s play!”

Teatre got a one on her APUSH exam in high school, but was the second understudy for Eliza in her theater camp’s production of Hamilton in 2021.

“You know I didn’t put it together at first because I was distracted by all the modern day stuff, but it’s so ethereal seeing all these people uniting over the show,” said Teatre. “Lin [Manuel Miranda] put a lot into this, it’s really nice to see him getting some attention, just like me, he was bullied in middle school for sashaying the mile run.”

Teatre joined the protest, asking “fans” their thoughts on Thomas Jefferson’s sexuality. Teatre’s roommate, Heather Story (MCAS ‘28), history major and self-proclaimed “woke Olympian,” said that this is a common confusion of Skyler’s.

“Yeah…we’ve tried to discuss how the socio-political context of today resonates with that of the 18th century,” said Story. “However, whenever I try to explain that to Skyler she drowns me out by loudly singing ‘Satisfied.’ She also went to Hamilton’s in a historically-accurate Founding Father costume. It wasn’t even Halloween!”

At press time, Skyler Teatre was found sipping a $12 bottle of Sam Adams at Hamilton Restaurant and Bar in a powdered wig.
