#BOB ERA: Young Women Have Never Been Closer To Their Fathers
SportsStudent Life September 13, 2024 The New England Classic

ALUMNI STADIUM — The campus is buzzing and the school spirit has never been more electric. This new #BOB ERA has increased game attendance, skyrocketed merchandise profits and generally boosted morale for Eagles of all ages. But one group in particular has started to reap an unexpected, familial benefit from the Eagles’ success: BC girls have never been in closer contact with their dads. Following Boston College Football’s stellar season opener and first home game, jealous BC fathers across the country are asking their daughters if they are “congratulating the football players when they walk into class.”
Otherwise lacking commonalities with their old man, Boston College Football becoming good offers endless opportunities for chat between college-aged girls and their fathers.
We caught up with Iggy Nored (MCAS ’28) who testified to her father’s sudden interest in her college life.
“My dad, like, literally never responded to a single one of my texts when I was auditioning for a capella, then BOOM! BC upsets FSU and he’s calling me daily to talk about how ‘the team’s discipline looks like a Don Shula product.’”
Other students testified to a similar phenomenon.
“My dad normally texts me MAX twice a year: Once on my birthday—where he says the wrong age—and once on Thanksgiving,” Celia O’Phane (CSOM ’25) revealed. “My dad texted me eight times throughout the Duquesne game, one for every touchdown.”
Boston College IT is also feeling the impact of this sudden communication spike. Hugh Geeke (MIT ‘96), director of campus technology, has been inundated with incorrectly marked spam emails.
“What we’ve noticed is that dads are forwarding mass numbers of ESPN screenshots from their work accounts, leading our program to mark it as spam.” Geeke recommends that female students periodically check their spam folder to ensure they aren’t missing any new updates on how OL Logan Taylor’s return may affect BC’s ability to penetrate with the run game.
