CLEVELAND CIRCLE — Local samaritan Katie Rollhouse (LSOE ’21) posted an offer on the Official Boston College Class of 2021 Facebook group to pick up any items people might need from CVS. Since being published, the post has received a staggering number of “wow” and “angry” reacts — along with comments from her peers — in response to  her offer.

“I just figured, I’m going there anyway, so why not spare other people their time?” said Rollhouse. “Things get busy, and before you know it, you’re using your roommate’s body wash, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, and toothpaste because you didn’t have time to pick up your own.”

A number of students made requests, including “an eighth,” “my will to live,” and “this is so sad, can we get fifty likes?”

While uncertain where to find some of the mentioned items, Rollhouse did her best to round up items from her peers’ shopping lists into her CVS basket.

“Ryan Heldiger wasn’t really clear on what he wanted an eighth of, so I kind of just gathered some potential things, hoping one of them is right,” Rollhouse said, motioning to her basket containing a packet of spices, chapstick, and a travel-size bottle of eyedrops.

Many students who had commented on the initial post were surprised to have received direct Facebook messages about their requests.

“She messaged me saying that she couldn’t find ‘beepis,’ so she bought Pepsi instead,”  said Becca Gerald (MCAS ’21). “I only commented because I kind of thought the post was a joke. I don’t think I’ve ever talked to her in person.”

At press time, Rollhouse was attempting to lift five bags holding $174 worth of merchandise.
