MILE 21 (BOSTON MARATHON) — Monday mornings, Jo Gurr (LSEHD 26) always takes a 2.61 mile jaunt along Commonwealth Avenue; the run takes her about 30 minutes, and cultivating the following Strava post takes an additional 15. This Monday, Gurr found passerby to be extremely uplifting and enthusiastic about her getting in daily exercise.

“I am just tickled pink that everyone has such a joy for running and walking! I have never been offered a Coors Light, a half-eaten breakfast sandwich, and such crude words of encouragement on my two-mile loop!” said Gurr.

Gurr was feeling the best runner’s high of her life until she was tackled by Boston Police for attempting to cross Commonwealth Avenue to Greycliff Road. The Elites just avoided trampling Gurr, resulting in a minor pinky toe injury. Gurr reported to have felt “upstaged” by this encounter, but still holds dearly the moments she felt the zest for life emulated by drunk Boston College students drunk at 7:15 AM.

“Marathon Monday is whatever you make of it! Running 2.61 miles, running 26.1 miles, drinking 26.1 beers, all to cross the finish line of fun! Woo! Took a Pink Whitney nip in my last 0.5!” said Gurr.

The Classic encourages you to bring this kind of enthusiasm to Two Friends, the Hillside bathrooms, and Alcohol Compliance Officers on Monday morning!
