Freshman Totally Nails First Impression on Class of 2020 Facebook Page
THE FACE BOOK — Enjoying the lazy summer months leading up to move-in day, local Boston College freshman Jeb McFly has wasted no time in making a lasting impression on his fellow classmates. Jeb, a charming young prep school grad with an ironic bucket hat, has brought laughter and refreshing creativity to an otherwise bleak and talentless group of individuals. McFly’s first post, a witty yet digestible introduction, came to the expectant masses in mid-June.
“I’m Jeb and I like to party and i have a lot of interests including some lax in high school. I’m going to be a hardworking CSOM student but I like to turn up. In my free time I like boating, racism, and partying. So add me on insta @jebdawg98 if ur looking for a fun time.”
After a few weeks of basking in the glory of his 100+ like post, McFly recreated the magic with a second message in early July. This post was certainly more of a creative risk, branching out to such abstract concepts as “vandy is mad cold during orientation haha.” He also asked his new BC friends a number of thought-provoking yet humorous questions, most notably “are the dorms fireproof? i need to know because im about to drop my mixtape ???”
McFly, whose humor has successfully captured the hearts and minds of many incoming freshmen, has utilized every tool at his disposal to create original, relatable, all around good content on the page. The social media mogul explained that his most successful BC memes so far have included AlcoholEdu references and “2020 vision” jokes. “I’m just trying to build up a solid reputation online so that everyone knows about me by the time Welcome Week comes around,” said McFly in an Instagram DM to @thenewenglandclassic. “That’s when I’m really going to make all of my best friends, but there’s no reason to not start now. Also, send nudes?”
At press time, Jeb “The Coolest” McFly was finishing off the summer on a strong note, with a fake post about his dorm assignment. In a joke so edgy and fun, he has told the group that he will be living in Kostka Hall this year. (This joke is especially humorous because Kostka is an all-girls dorm, meaning that Jeb, as a male, is not actually eligible to live there!) This work of comedic genius was immediately recognized by the entire BC community, and the collective laughter has been vocalized online with 500+ likes.
