After what many are calling the “low-kirkenuinely most lit” night in Boston College history, the world is left wondering what went wrong. 2 Dead, 13 Injured, And 4 Missing After Fr. Jack’s Post-Inauguration Rave

A DISASTROUS STOKES LAWN — After what many are calling the “low-kirkenuinely most lit” night in Boston College history, the world is left wondering what went wrong. The Lights on the Heights show began innocently enough with some Olivia Dean covers by BC bOp! However, as the night progressed and the sun went down, the light rave took a turn for the worse. The administration’s attempt to “connect with the youth” through Fr. Jack’s inauguration turned sour.  As head of Promotion Operations, Tom Fool-Eerie, stated in their police interrogation, the event quickly turned into a dark techno-rave that unfortunately left 2 dead, 14 injured, and 4 missing in its aftermath.

Many are still trying to comprehend what, when, and how things went wrong with this seemingly innocuous event. The New England Classic interviewed Boston College EMS responder Cat Astrophee (MCAS ’27) to see if she could provide any insight on the timeline of the night, which is detailed below based on their incoming BC EMS calls:

Approximately 4:30PM: Minutes after the light show for Fr. Jack began, students closest to the stage could be seen struggling to stay on their feet.Whether that was from the crowd crush or the buffalo chicken mac n’ cheese, Astrophee could not say.

5:00 PM: BC EMS received their first call for help and responded to a student lying unresponsive in front of the apple cider donuts.

5:47 PM: BCPD was called in to assist the EMS team after dozens of students were classified as requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency triage center was created in the Chocolate Bar. Fr. Jack chose to continue the party, assuming BCPD was there to “be the fun police.”

6:04 PM: BCPD and BC EMS officially declared the Lights on the Heights as a mass-casualty incident after over 50 students entered the triage center with strobe-light-induced migraines, “Jell-O knees,” cardiac-threatening sugar highs, and more.

Approximately 6:30 PM: BC EMS can no longer control the influx of students into their emergency triage center, chaos ensues both in the triage center and in the light show tent. Fr. Jack keeps the party in the tent going, shouting for the crowd to “give a sign of peace” to each other.

6:51 PM: Bahm Mer (LYNCH ’29) succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

7:07 PM: Faye Taleety (CSON ’30) and Deborah Downer (CSOM ’28) were rushed to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Taleety was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Approximately 7:30 PM: Fr. Jack concludes the light show. Cass Teeway (MCAS ’30) and others who lost their friends in the crowd move towards the triage center for answers, yet leave with more questions.

Although many questions still remain, the Classic and BC EMS agreed that one of the main catalysts to this devastating event was Fr. Jack’s fourth rendition of “FE!N” at approximately 6:00 PM when he started blessing those in the front of the crowd.
