STAYER HALL — During her summer orientation session, incoming freshman Katie Prey-Dawn (MCAS ’28) had one goal: finding her perfect roommate. However, the task of finding her BC soulmate proved much more effortless for the recent high school grad.
“I opened the car door for Katie outside Stayer, and realized I would be the first person she’d meet at BC,” said her orientation leader Kenny Coogur (CSOM ’25), recalling the first time he met his girlfriend. “As an orientation leader, I capitalized on—I mean, ‘valued’ the immense responsibility and trust to guide a formative experience that would forever shape how young students view their time here.”
During the orientation session, Coogur personalized advice for Prey-Dawn. When helping to build her schedule, he suggested avoiding an Ethics and Campus Leadership course because “that shit’s kinda outdated now anyways.”
“Kenny had an interesting approach, for sure,” said Johnny Damon (MCAS ’28), also in Coogur’s orientation group. “In the icebreaker, Katie revealed that her favorite pizza topping is anchovies, and Kenny immediately responded by saying his favorite BC fun fact is that 69% of Eagles marry each other.”
Fellow OL Soh Enso (MCAS ’25) expressed grave reservations about the nature of Coogur’s “leadership” and reminded him about the boundaries of the orientation handbook. However, Coogur explained that their relationship is “technically legal” because “it’s only forbidden to diddle while they are your little.” A New England Classic investigation of Prey-Dawn’s Instagram presence confirms a hard launch did not occur until a fall break getaway to Coogur’s Cape Cod sailboat.
At press time, Prey-Dawn and Coogur were searching for the location of their next date. Options included grooming their dog, a predator hunt in the Bayou, and listening to the Bill Belichick and Leonardo DiCaprio podcast on dating advice.
