LONG ISLAND, NY — Beatrice C. Dofonder (MCAS ’28) headed home for the long weekend, with plans to meet up with her hometown best friend to “debrief” the first 45 days of college over bagels, because “nobody does it like New York.”
After a month at UTampa, Donfonder’s best friend, Hannah Tuah, walked into their local bagel shop with an orange spray tan, a belly-button piercing, and four more bodies. Tuah ambushed Dofonder with stories of pool parties, “wild nights” at SAE, and pictures of the Malibu bottles adorning her dorm room window. When asked about the going out scene at BC, Dofonder was dumbfounded.
“So, it’s like a club but it’s outside and there’s trees – but like, it’s SO fun and, like, at least 40 percent of my grade goes. We also sometimes go out into Boston! There’s this place called Sunset…sometimes we get turned away though…but then we go to TacoBell Cantina. You would get it if you went to school in Boston – they’re, like, super strict here, but it’s still SO fun!” said Dofonder.
When we pulled Hannah, dubbed “Hawk” for a nickname at college, for commentary, she said, “Yeah, TBH, BC sounds pretty lame…I don’t get why they just don’t have frats – Beatrice said it’s something about the Jehovahs?”
On the other hand, Dofonder’s parents are proud of her for making the more academic choice. The Classic asked her father, an alumnus, for more insight. “’Trice keeps complaining that Hannah’s having more fun than her at school, but when I went to BC, I was buying kegs every weekend for nights with my boys in Fenny – that’s how I met her mom…and a few other nice ladies,” said Richard Dofonder (CSOM ’90).
At press time, Dofonder was found researching “best underage bars in Boston” and “top SEC schools to transfer to.”
