McGUINN HALL — Thursday’s 10:15 Globalization II lecture took a turn when Annie McHugh (MCAS ’22) braced herself for a discussion with classmate Quintin Ford (MCAS ’20) on the upcoming Academy Awards. Ford, who strolled in five minutes early smelling of Old Spice and cigarette smoke, immediately began launching into an Oscars discussion with McHugh.

“He just started rambling,” said McHugh. “He only stopped to adjust his stupid circle glasses or take a drink from his sticker-covered S’well.”

McHugh, an English major, tried in vain to bring up the merits of Little Women and director Greta Gerwig to Ford. Her efforts went unnoticed by her classmate, who preferred instead to prattle on about how Uncut Gems was snubbed while rifling through his Jansport for a pen.

“I dunno, I just feel like when Sandler’s good, he’s good,” Ford said to a classmate in the hall a full ten minutes after class let out. “Not to mention that DeNiro was incredible in The Irishman. That last scene alone is enough to win him Best Actor.”

Ford, who recently purchased a record player after cutting back on cold brew, is currently working on his film thesis. His friends report they’re “totally fucking sick of him” criticizing their Netflix choices and have not answered his requests to be in his short film.

At press time, McHugh was seen pointing out Ford to her friends in the Rat as “the guy with the denim shirt and Timothée Chalamet hair.”
