Leahy’s Shoveling Plan Backfires; BC Announces Second Snow Day This Week

THAT HUGE MOUND OF SNOW OUTSIDE MODS — Following a hefty winter storm on Monday that dumped two feet of snow on campus, Boston College maintenance set out to battle Mother Nature… and lost. Taking matters into his own hands, Fr. William P. Leahy, S.J. announced an opportunity for students to shovel snow in exchange for $10.00 an hour in flex bucks. This generous plan is expected to have the snow cleared and the hungry upperclassmen fed in no time.
Unfortunately for Fr. Leahy, instead of clearing pathways in front of Stokes and Gasson, the group of students conspired to get one more snow day. The ringleader, Medal Shovell (MCAS ‘27) explained, “At first this sounded like a great way to get a few extra Meatball Obsessions, but after two too many days of class this week, I realized what I wanted even more – another snow day.”
While students were instructed to clear the sidewalks, some chose a more holistic approach – redistributing the snow back into its original environment.
“If the roads are bad enough, they lowkenuinely can’t even make us go to class,” Shovell explained, actively emptying his shovel onto Comm Ave. “It’s just science.”
Witnesses report that Shovell’s theory quickly gained traction, as a crowd of approximately 40 students was seen using their shovels to push mounds of snow directly towards oncoming traffic.
At press time, Hammond Street, Beacon Street, and Commonwealth Avenue were buried under approximately three feet of freshly relocated snow, thanks to Fr. Leahy’s innovative initiative. Reporters from the Classic, who were at the scene, confirmed the only walkable route on campus connects Walsh directly to the Mods.
