“Yeah, I found it on Handshake. The company is completely male-centered which you don’t really see nowadays. It’s something I can appreciate.”  CSOM Student Announces Prestigious Internship At “Male-Centered App” Called Grindr

CHESTNUT HILL — It’s that time of year where seniors start sweating about their postgrad plans, applying to graduate school in a crisis, or hitting up friends’ parents on LinkedIn to see if they have an opening. Juniors are equally as stressed as they look for the internship that could lead to the elusive postgrad job.

However, we spoke to one CSOM junior who has secured a prestigious internship with Grindr this summer. It promises advancement and a career after graduation. When asked where he heard about it, Richard “Dick” Slarg (CSOM ‘27) said “Yeah, I found it on Handshake. The company is completely male-centered which you don’t really see nowadays. It’s something I can appreciate.”

Slarg is excited to go abroad to Lisbon in the spring before his internship next summer, which is fully virtual from his home in New Canaan, Connecticut.

“It being virtual is definitely a plus. I was stoked to see that on the requirements. I am still confused why a ‘good body’ was on there too, but I am excited to find out. The listing also said there is room for advancement depending on how many clients I secure,” Slarg said enthusiastically.

Indeed, upon investigation, the listing required the applicant to work fully virtual, have a good body, be skilled at increasing engagement, and an understanding of the company’s values such as privacy and men’s desires.

When Slarg was asked if he would have to travel at all for his job, he told the Classic the only place he’d have to go is wherever the Republican National Convention is being held in 2028. “That is great since those are the guys I would want to be networking with anyhow if I ever wanted to leave Grindr,” Slarg said when asked his thoughts on that trip.

We here at the Classic wish Slarg the best of luck with his prestigious internship and hope it is all he believes it to be.
