WALSH FUNCTION ROOM — Last night, the Wellness Center, partnered with UGBC, held their Men’s Mental Health Panel titled “MENtal Health Matters: Let’s Talk About It.” The panel consists of five speakers ranging from a staff psychologist to a resident minister, and one moderator. The Classic sent a trusted field reporter to the event and this is what was captured.

The discussion ranged topics such as toxic masculinity to mommy issues. Below are some quotes from the panelists:

  • “Men, as caretakers, breadwinners, and guardians, face many societal pressures. Find ways to relieve those issues, for example, consent is one of those societal pressures that is unnecessary, if she looks like she’s asking for it, she probably is. No need to go through the stress of asking,” stated panelist Pred Attor, Assistant Director of Athletics
  • “I looked for additional ways to destress and found a massage parlour. The massage was heaven and I received the happiest ending that truly relieved me of all frustration,” said panelist Red Ituser, Assistant to the Dean of Students
  • “I truly think it is a shame that Men’s Mental Health month is also No-Nut November, with the added sexual frustration men need to find more ways to cope,” said panelist Obe Livious, Staff Psychologist
  • “Depression, unfortunately, affects many men silently. Don’t fall into the cracks, let others know. Tell your girlfriend you will kill yourself if she doesnt give you head, she’ll understand your cry for help,” said panelist Blough Mi, Director of Murray Center for Student Wellness
  • “And it’s okay to ask for help. My Mommy always rubs my head on the rough days,” said panelist Mawmi Ishus, Resident Minister

The discussion was supposed to have a dinner that follows, yet the panelists’ wives did not pre-pack it, so there was no dinner following the event.
